Dear WASC Families,
Save the date and make it a must for your swimmer to attend a series of workshops put together by Sports Performance Psychologist Will Tierney.

When – 1st workshop on the Monday 6th December at the Grange Surf lifesaving Club from 5pm sharp to 6pm [please be early]. If you normally swim on a Monday night, there will be the regular pool session at Largs from 6.30 to 8pm. There will be no gym session on this night.

Who – swimmers only – 12 years and over and must be a current financial member of WASC.

I’m hoping to make these a regular part of our program so future swimmers coming through to the performance level will have the opportunities to benefit from not only the workshops as they mature but also receive mentoring from the senior group.

We are also looking at putting a Parents workshop together based on the important role they play in the pathway to creating performance. There will be more information coming shortly.

What to bring – drink – pen and paper – masks.

These series of workshops will be interactive and give each swimmer strategies to cope under pressure based around advanced concepts of mindfulness [anxiety & creating a mindset for change] – self compassion [self-criticism & self-compassion] – diffusion [coping & controlling].

We are holding each workshop just prior to a targeted swim meet and will be practising these skills at each meet as well through our training program and reflecting on them in each series of workshops.

This is a fantastic opportunity that our WASC Committee has funded and supported. Please make the effort to attend. If a swimmer only has one take away from the workshops, it could be a life changer.

RSVPs essential by Wednesday 1st December. Please RSVP by return email or text Jane 0448929888.
Carl Juncken and the WASC committee.
